Arjay B. Araña

Hello friends. My name is Arjay B. Araña. I’m a Filipino, a Christian blogger and freelance writer. I’m also a web publisher of Christian literature. This is my personal blog. In here I write about my life (nothing too deep, mind you) and about whatever interests me (mostly spiritual matters, literature, culture, and computer technology).

This blog is powered by Textpattern CMS, which organizes my posts into sections. Because of this, I was able to bring all my personal blogging into one place, and I’ve divided my writings into three broad categories: Articles, Musings, and Journal. You can browse for each category in their respective sections, while the Home page brings them all together.

As a Christian blogger (and web publisher), I’m planning and studying for my new and upcoming ministry at In there I’ll be writing Bible studies, devotions, and essays; and I’ll also be publishing, in addition to Bibles, select Christian literature.

As a Christian freelance writer, I’m still making my preparations to enter the business, but soon I’m going to offer my writing services. My forte will be writing articles on evangelical and Reformed topics.

If you’d like to contact me, please send me an email at email hidden; JavaScript is required.

What follows now is a bit of my background, which is, to say the least, uncommon and irregular.

My Christian Background

Like the majority of the population here in the Philippines, I was a Roman Catholic since my childhood — it was the religion I was born with. When I was in college, I was converted to Protestantism. However, because of disillusionment with the Christian communities I came in contact with (nobody had really understood my deep love for Christ), I’d spent many years without a local church. And so I grew up in my faith mostly through my own personal walk with God, through my own studies, and through the outreach of some internet ministries. And then, for a few years I was a member of a Pentecostal church, and I thought I was home at last. But again, because of severe disillusionment, I left, and at the present time I’m not a member of any congregation.

It’s hard to be alone, yes, but my experiences do have these benefits: I am not burdened by the prejudices and hypocrisy of the Christian subculture, and I can understand and relate to many unbelievers. I am also honest about my faith, honest about my life, and I am passionate about speaking the truth in love.

Theologically, I’ve already outgrown my Pentecostal influences, and I have embraced Reformed theology or Calvinism. Personally, I’ve adopted for my own the Confessional Statement of The Gospel Coalition, which is based on Reformed theology. I also believe in the Apostles’ Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Chalcedonian Creed.

I am called to serve God, and my primary way of doing that is writing for him. For a few years I attended a Bible school (and so I had some training for the ministry), but I wasn’t able to finish my course because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

For now I’m studying on my own — a silent student of Ligonier Ministries (R.C. Sproul et al.) and Grace to You (John MacArthur), greatly thankful for the resources they’ve made available for free on the internet.
